Our Philosophy

Our Mission:

At Jersey Behavior Consulting LLC, our mission is to deliver neurodiversity-affirming Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services that honor autonomy, foster resilience, and transform systems of care. We are dedicated to creating a more inclusive and just world by centering the lived experiences of marginalized communities and promoting child-led, play-based approaches that prioritize empowerment and authenticity.

How We Provide Support:

We Center the Person, Not their Compliance
Our focus is on individuality and autonomy rather than compliance or "fixing" behaviors. We work to understand the reasons behind behaviors, helping individuals express themselves in ways that align with their values. Care plans are designed to support self-directed learning through play, exploration, and authentic interaction, without imposing rigid structures.

We Resist Hierarchical Power Dynamics
We involve caregivers, children, and team members in planning and decision-making processes, emphasizing shared expertise and mutual respect. By maintaining transparent conversations about goals and methods, we challenge the traditional power imbalances often present in ABA. We reject top-down decision-making and utilize a participatory processes where community members voice their perspectives on organizational policies, goals, and operational strategies.

Embrace Interdependence
Support extends beyond individuals to include their caregivers, educators, and broader community networks. Building interconnected relationships helps foster empathy and shared understanding. Collaboration with families and professionals ensures holistic care that addresses emotional, social, and practical needs. Care isn't an isolated activity—it’s a communal effort.

Move Away from the "Fixing" Mindset
We reject the narrative that neurodivergence needs to be "fixed" and instead focus on empowering individuals to make choices and advocate for their needs. Our goal is to celebrate diverse ways of thinking, processing, and experiencing the world while supporting personal growth on individual terms. Our role is to support flourishing, not conformity.

Prioritize Mental Health
We prioritize mental health, creating environments where clients feel safe to express their emotions. We support clients and community members in expressing their emotions freely without fear of punishment or dismissal. We help them develop the tools to regulate and navigate their emotions in a way that feels authentic and empowering.

Challenge Capitalism and Profit-Driven Models of Care
We strive to make care accessible, resisting commodification by offering flexible payment options such as sliding scale fees and insurance funded care. Our focus is on equipping families and communities with sustainable tools for decentralized and inclusive support.

Address and Support Family Systems
Caregiver regulation and emotional safety is integral to our approach. We provide practical tools, emotional support, and spaces for caregivers to address their needs, supporting moves toward family systems that are nurtured and resilient.

Incorporate Anti-Oppressive Practices
Our work actively considers systemic inequities and seeks to challenge racism, ableism, sexism, classism, and other forms of oppression. By focusing on accessibility and inclusivity, we aim to create an environment where all families feel welcomed and supported.

Reclaim Play and Connection
We emphasize play and relational methods as vital to growth and connection. Spontaneous, meaningful interactions foster creativity, connection, and self-expression, rather than adhering to rigid, predefined goals. We work to foster deep, empathetic bonds that support the individual’s development, rather than striving for "results" as defined by traditional ABA models.

Continue Learning and Growing
We are committed to ongoing self-reflection and education, incorporating principles of radical care, disability justice, and anti-oppression to continuously improve our understanding and practices.
